Kate Smart attained a first class honours degree in Landscape Architecture during which she learnt how to manipulate space using soft and hard landscaping materials. She loves plants and enjoys designing plant combinations that create maximum atmosphere. She is passionate about her new career, “I want people to enjoy the process as much as I do. I try to find out about what my clients like and don’t like because it often provides me with lots of inspiration for their project”.

“My love of nature and the environment started at an early age when I was given a Ladybird book about British Wild Flowers. I was enthralled and I am sure this is why I became such a keen gardener and beekeeper”. Some time spent abroad also contributed to her appreciation of other cultures, architecture and art. “I love my own heritage but I admire others too especially where ancient and modern styles collide”.

Kate now works on her own projects as well as teaming up with other professionals for major contracts. But she always views things from a unique perspective. “Every project is different and I am always learning…”.
